Luibueno's is Muy Bueno!

On the North Shore of Oahu there is a gem of a restaurant called Luibueno's and it is SO GOOD! We eat here almost every weekend and we don't mind the 30+ minute drive. The salsa is garlicly delicious and the chips have a good crunch. My favorite is the Almejas al Vapor, Steamed clams in garlic butter sauce. It comes with a toasted baguette. If it weren't consider bad form I would drink the garlic butter sauce after the clams were gone.

I just recently tried the Carne Asada Quesadilla. It is dripping with melted cheese and there is the buttery goodness of their guacamole inside along with some very tender steak. Half of it is a meal for me and I take the other half home for anther meal.

My husband likes the Shredded Beef Enchiladas. He likes them so much that he has yet to order anything else. He is kind of a picky eater so he is pretty set in his ways.

The kids love the Chicken Tenders! The come with beans and rice which sadly go untouched. My son, like his Dad is also a picky eater so rice or beans for him. My daughter loves rice and like beans, but she fills up on the chicken before she eats the rest. After they are done with their meals the server brings out a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream for both kids, it comes with the Keiki meal, as well as their drinks.

It is a little pricey but it is in Haleiwa which is a huge tourist spot. We love it and I think if you have the chance to visit you will too!

Pearl Harbor's USS Arizona Memorial

My husband and I visited The Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor on our honeymoon. There is a
movie about the day it was bombed and the war in general. The movie was pretty violent and
moving. I was in tears at the end. Not something I feel is appropriate for children under 12. The
memorial itself it beautiful and it good for children of any age, though there can be a long wait so younger children might not enjoy it too much. I do believe that everyone should see the memorial and learn about this piece of history. It is vital that we keep history alive and pass on the stories to our children. If your Grandparents were alive during the early 40's take the time to ask them what they remember about Pearl harbor and WWII. I love hearing my Grandparents talk about what life was like when they were young.

We have taken our kids here twice so far and it is a struggle to get them to leave! There are so many things for kids to do here that are educational as well as fun. We love it!

Hawaii is #1!

The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index® (WBI) has surveyed 1,000 Americans a day for the last three years, 350 days a year to provide the largest database of behavioral economic metrics. For all 50 states, Hawaii ranks number 1! For mid sized cities Honolulu ranks number 5. Not too bad in my book! Just another reason to love Oahu and Hawaii as a whole. I loved living here before I read this and now I love it even more!
I found the info at http://www.well-beingindex.com/. Here is the complete survey information http://www.well-beingindex.com/files/2011PressKitFinal.pdf

My Heart Belongs in Hawaii

From the very first time my husband (fiancĂ© at the time) stepped foot in Oahu we knew that this amazing place would be our home. After much planning and a lot of good luck we bought a house there. There are many things to see and do.
I feel at peace here. There is something very special about this place, it is healing. Maybe it is the ocean or the trade winds, or another of the many beautiful places on this island, but I know that my heart belongs in Hawaii!
I have been inspired by TheOhanaMomma's blog so I decided to start my own. Thank you Sarah for the inspiration!
